For more than 30 years, Barking Gecko Arts has sparked the imaginations of children across Western Australia and beyond. From unforgettable theatre productions to residencies in remote classrooms, our work centres young people as makers, dreamers, and storytellers. Now, we’re on a bold mission: to reach 50% of all WA children by 2028.
What We’re Doing About It
Barking Gecko delivers:
- 3+ theatre shows a year — bold, original, and made especially for young audiences
- The AWESOME Festival, now part of BGA, reaching 80,000+ children and families annually
- Touring programs to outer-metro and regional WA
- Creative residencies in schools and communities, designed to improve wellbeing, literacy, and engagement
- Multi-arts experiences across theatre, dance, visual art, digital media, and more
- Access pathways for young people aged 0–17 from all backgrounds
Why We Need You
As a not-for-profit company, just 10% of our revenue comes from ticket sales. That means it’s our community of supporters — donors, partners, and believers — who make this work possible.
