AWESOME Schools
AWESOME Schools is a new program that aims to enrich students and educators at disadvantaged schools, target key areas of support, and celebrate the unique voices of WA children. 2023 was the first year AWESOME ran this program, which involved partnering with 5 WA schools to deliver 4 weeks of residency (or 20 workshops) with the same group of students.
Longer residencies allow for meaningful year-long relationships between AWESOME and the teachers and school staff. This also gives artists the opportunity to build rapport with the students and to build the program more specifically to the interests and talents of participating students.
We collaborate with each participating school to co-design a Strategic Partnership Plan, with each school selecting participating students and what learning and wellbeing objectives they would like the residency to focus on.
